You don't need much RAM for what you do (2 GB is fine, 4 GB is morthan adequate).
The speed of TV'and video is fixed (you don't want movies to run 30 minutes if they normally take 90). For browsing, finally, most often the connection to your ISP is limiting.
Taken all together I'd spend any money you have left after buying 4 GB of RAM in a faster processor.

I'm in the market for a new laptop. Nothing too souped up. I'm pretty sure I want a big screen - thinking 17". I don't play games much but surf the Internet a lot and watch TV and videos online quite a bit. My main question is would I benefit more from a faster processor or more RAM?
