Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter had warrants issued for a raid on want he believed to be the house of the operator of a local watchdog blog (Exposedat) that recently exposed him and other local officials of corrupt business. Judge that issued the warrants agreed with sheriff stating that there is no first amendment right protecting freedom of speech. And the Louisiana supreme court has already ruled the statute on which the warrant was issued unconstitutional. Still, Friday August 5th Judge Bethancourt upheld the warrant.
This is clearly an attempt to cover up the sheriff's and his friends illegal and unethical dealing in government founds. Attention and debate on this matter is growing. Please help stand up for freedom of speech, bloggers, and watchdog groups everywhere. We can not have our freedoms taken away!
