General discussion

Sharp LC-42D62U

Yes, I've posted this comment in a few places - just trying to get the best feedback possible.....

I've had my eye on this unit before it's release because of it's relatively low price and Sharps reputation; however, I'm still waiting on some reviews to help evaluate the performance. CNet has reviewed the 46" version and observed banding (along with other issues) - they continue to state the 42" version is not equal in its specs (e.g., 1200:1 contrast ratio); so, I'm a little hesitant right now. There is a large selection with a large price variance for 40"-42" LCD TVs and I'm still searching for the right combination. Additionally, I'm curious about purchasing on-line (experiences, return policies). I know it varies greatly between distributors, but the prices are right! Thanks aquayonex for your opinion. (Note: This will be my first LCD TV buying experience).

PLease visit AVS forums, you will find many sharp d62 owners have alot of issues with this TV. I highly recommened visiting AVS forums and reading the D62 thread. YOu will find about 100pages of people complaining about this set. Be warned it has a banding issue.
