sharp aquos - Horizontal black line

This just started happening a few days ago.. a single black line spanning across ~2/3 of my screen horizontally has appeared, and will not go away. i've tried tapping on the back of the TV/squeezing the edges/pressing on the input panel in the back. i have not opened up the TV yet to lot at interior connectors/ribbon cables.. I bought this TV in 04/2014, so it's out of manufacturer's warranty :\ are there any suggestions other than checking the ribbon cables/interior connections?

The model number is : LC-60LE650U

Why not check ribbon cables and connections?

In reply to: sharp aquos - Horizontal black line

It's in the list of things that fail so why not? I really want to know why this is not an option.

Here's a video of another issue where it's just connections.

And no, it's not a black line there but the loss of a connection can cause so many effects that I love to remove the power and wiggle, unplug and plug cables as I've lost count of how many times that worked. If I do find it helps, watch the work this tech did to keep it from failing again.

Me too

I have exact same problem. Sharp 60" LED with horizontal line goes left to right accross center of screen fading to nothing at right side of screen.

Try extending the warranty.

In reply to: sharp aquos - Horizontal black line

Most let you do that but after the extension there is a period you can't make a claim.

-> The other thing is if you bought at Costco and some credit cards (CC) you get a second year warranty. These are your best exits.

The failure is all over the web with causes being boards, panels, cables and such. There is no way anyone can diagnose this short of swapping parts.
