sharing wwan connection to itouch

Hopefully someone can help me!
I have a Toshiba NB505 netbook (windows 7 starter) connected to a verizon usb mobile broadband. I want to broadcast my internet via wifi to my itouch. So far I have been able to get my itouch to pick up the signal, it shows PC name but when I try to connect it the itouch asks for a password- password is not needed nor ever set up on the pc. I have entered static info on the itouch and gotten it to stay "connected" (temporarily) but was never able to surf the internet or use the internet apps. Maybe im missing something or did something incorrectly. Any help ideas or suggestions are warmly welcomed!
