Sharing (Wired & Wireless Network)

May 6, 2005 11:14PM PDT

I have a Linksys wireless - B router w/4port switch (model: befw11s4)that is connected to my cable modem. I have a desktop computer connected to the router via ethernet. I also have a laptop that is connecting to the router wirelessly. both computers are on XP pro SP2. Both computer access the internet with out any issues at all. my laptop top is able to access all my shared files on the desktop as well as a shared printer that is physically connected to the desktop. the issue is that my desktop is not able to access any shared resources on the laptop. I initially thought it was a firewall issue on the laptop. However I disabled all my firewalls and I still have no access to the shared files on the laptop. I have brought up a command prompt on both the laptop and the desktop. on the laptop I am able to ping the desktop, gateway, and any outside ip address. However on the desktop I am only able to ping the gateway, and any outside IP address. I am unable to ping the laptop!!!!

Any other ideas???

I would test it's ability to network through that interface. A positive result would narrow down the possibilities.

check if the AP Isolation is set to "on" on your router under "Wirelss | Advanced Wireless Settings"
make sure it is set to "OFF"
