sharing my printer

hey..im new to the whole networkin thing..im currently in college n i hav a room mate n we went n bought a printer..i know you are able to share it but how do u do it..currently we connect to the LAN that the college offers from our room..we use a hub to connect to the LAN.we both are using acer travelmate series laptops..pls if any1 can show me step by step in how to share our printer and to also tranfer files between us it would b a great help..thnks

Assuming the printer is....

attached directly to one of the laptops, you would set the printer to be shared from within it's properties page. Then:

1) set both PCs to the same workgroup name
2) use the add printer wizard on the second PC and choose a network connection, navigate to the shared printer on the first PC and then add any drivers for the printer if Windows needs them.

i dint get the ..how to i set the printer to b shared from the properties n how to i acces these properties..can u explain the steps in bit more details pls..

Start/Settings/Printers and Faxes/right click the printer and choose Properties
