Sharing Internet

Oct 8, 2007 10:45AM PDT

Good day,

I am having problems in connecting my computers to the internet. I have a pc that has 2 Ethernet LAN Cards, one I connected to the modem for my internet connection, and the other is wired to an Acer 4310 Laptop. Both computers are running under Microsoft Windows Vista. The pc is ok, the problem is that I can?t connect my Laptop to the internet, whenever I try to link both computers. I have already activated the ICS, an Internet Device Gateway is also present in both computer's Network folder yet I cant browse anything in the laptop. What could be causing me this problem?

The usual is a firewall.

Sorry but it's a recurring theme. But why not a router? It's as expensive as your second nic and cable today.

Get yourself a router and you won't have any problems hooking up two computers to the internet.
I saw an add for a Linksys 4 port router/switch yetserday for $39.99.

I was traveling last month and ...

Found I wanted to share our connection at the hotel. For 19.95 at Fry's in Las Vegas I picked up a Dell router (not that bad for the buck) and it worked fine. It had wifi and WPA, etc. I've seen Netgear 614's for 20 bucks on sale.

Neither are the best but do get the job done. I've seen people pay much more than that for ONE ethernet cable.
