Then it's all too easy with ICS and http://www.wown.com/articles_tutorials/icsw98se.html
My question is a simple one - I know it's possible, a friend of mine did it in Atlanta. The HOST PC is an Emachines W1640 with...
Windows XP (SP 1)
640 MB DDR Memory
10/100 Integrated Ethernet Adaptor
2 Dialup Modems
1.4 Ghz Athlon XP Processor
Internet Explorer 6.02
The OTHER PC is a Compaq 7922, and has
Windows 98 SE
192 MB SDRAM
10/100 Ethernet Card
AMD K6-2 Processor @ 533 Mhz
Internet Explorer 6
I've tried almost everything to get my PC to act as a gateway to the internet, and I even ran the Networking Wizard on both PC's, and it says that my connection is shared. But the only thing I can get to work is the "Shared Folders" for the PC's. The Windows 98 PC can tell what this machine is connected at (50666 bps), and it can actually make this one dial in - Other than that, nothing else. I should note that I'm attempting to use a LinkSys Router (Model NR-041) for the transmissions, and I've heard that this particular router is a pain at times. Says it's a "Cable/DSL" router, and it worked with my Road Runner before I moved. Is there any hope of making this work at all?
