Sharing Dial-up Internet connection under windows XP ???

Jan 18, 2006 5:03AM PST

I am building a network with two desktops and a laptop, all running XP. Wired connection to dlink router, laptop is wireless. My network is cool, and all the machines see each other, share printer, etc. I want all machines to get internet access via dialup connection on one desktop system. Reading my windows guides, it looks easy, but I can't make it work. All my machines show an internet connection icon, but only the one actually dialed in shows traffic; on the others the status window says nothing is happening. I am starting to suspect you have to do this right the first time and can't modify later, but I don't see a way to wipe out all the network connections and start again.
If anyone can tell me, or point me to, a simple process to make this happen right, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance

your accesspoint/router have the dial-up connection on it.

The only thing the wireless router is doing is being a router. I do not have broadband, or this would be simple, since the router would become an access point. What I need to do is properly configure the network so that any of my machines can use the dial-up connection to the internet that exists on my main machine. I've tried to follow Microsoft's instructions for enabling Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) but it's not working for me. It's possible I've done things in the wrong sequence. So one option is to wipe out all my network connections and start again, but there does not seem to be a way to do this - I get a pull-down option list with 'delete' grayed out.

Any ideas?
