sharing a printer connected to imac with macbook pro

Mar 27, 2008 4:49PM PDT

i have an Epson Stylus Photo 1390 printer connected to my imac thru usb. It is connected to other imacs via ethernet and is working good. But recently i purchased a macbook pro, and it has wireless connectivity via a dlink router. The problem is that i cannot access the printer thru my macbook.

Sharing Printer

Does "working good" refer to the iMac or to the sharing of the printer with the other iMac's?

I did this just last week with an iMac sharing the printer, System Preferences/Sharing/Printer Sharing, and a Macbook Pro.

The printer was not connected to the D-Link wireless router so the Host computer must be on and not asleep for the sharing to take place.

In Add a Printer on the MacBook Pro, the shared printer just popped up.

Epson Stylus Photo 1390 printer software must also be installed on the Macbook Pro.

If you have already done all of the above and not mentioned it, please say so.

Otherwise, what OS are you running on the iMac and the Macbook and how did the above suggestions work out for you?

I have installed the required driver in my macbook. Working good means that my printer is printing properly with my imacs.

Drivers
Apr 16, 2008 9:50PM PDT

I'm a little concerned that the printer that you have does not appear in on the Epson (America) website and consequently I am unable to check if the drivers you have loaded are actually for OS X 10.5 or not.

10.5 and Intel processors required a lot of printer manufacturers to rewrite their drivers.

Question: Does the printer function normally when the Machbook is connected to the WIRED network?

Drivers

I did find drivers on the Epson Singapore site, you might try downloading from there and putting them on the MacBook.

Make sure that you are actually using the Epson drivers and NOT the Gimp drivers that come with the Macbook

I checked

I was looking to see if there was a setting on the firewall of the receiving machine that needed to be set; there isn't.

Question: Can you share files with the iMac that is sharing the printer?

D-Link Technical Support.

Your problem only started when you tried to do wireless printer sharing through this router.

I wonder if the router is capable of achieving this.

It seems strange that the iMac shows up in Network but the shared printer does not.
