Shared Printer

Dec 31, 2009 1:30PM PST

I have a desktop pc running win7 64bit wired to a wireless router and a Toshiba laptop running 32bit win7 wirelessly connected to the same router.I also have 2 other desktop pcs running xp on 1 and vista on the other. A shared PSC 1210 is connected to the xp system and is shared by the vista system and the 32bit win7 laptop but I cannot get the 64bit win7 to connect to it. Win7 64 can seethe printer but reports it cannot find a driver for it and I have tried every way I can think of to point to a driver with no results.
Can anyone suggest a fix for this.

Compatibility?

Looking briefly at the HP Support site for this printer, I only see support for Vista mentioned.

This printer is quite old now, and it may be that HP have ended support for new Operating Systems. Your best bet is to ask HP.

I rechecked the HP web page for a 64bit driver for win 7 and arrived at this page :-http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01796879&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=90764&lang=en
which described how to install a psc1200 as a local printer simply by plugging it in and switching it on. Windows 7 automatically accessed Windows update and downloaded the 64bit driver for it.
I tested it and it worked so I disconnected the printer locally reconnected to the host XP system and the installed it on win7 as a network printer and every thing worked like clockwork

That's excellent. Well done.

I didn't think you would be able to find anything for an older printer like that, but congratulations.

There may now be hope for me, with my old Epson C62 printer which I may try and connect to Win 7 when I eventually install the new OS and try connecting the printer. Happy

print driver

ive had this problem befor and you can use a driver that is a close match to your printer and it will work the only thing that can go wrong is if you want to do something like double sided.
