Re:shared folders Or your question is how to stop that.

Unless the drive is prepared the the NTFS (NT File System), such is not going to happen.

To learn about NTFS (no reason to duplicate what's on your machine) press START, HELP AND SUPPORT and type in:

NTFS

(and)

Choosing between NTFS, FAT, and FAT32

Sharing or not sharing.

The articles should have explained this. What passage didn't make this clear? Just copy/paste it here for deeper comments.

In short, your first post asked how to stop such sharing. NTFS is one pre-requisite as noted in the articles.

If you want to share a folder, but don't do so, again, no reason for me to duplicate what's on your machine. Press Start, Help and Support and type in:

SHARED FOLDERS

For other users that logon to your PC, meaning they
have accounts setup on your PC and have their own
set of folders...
Requires NTFS File system as Bob stated.

Control Panel -> User Account ->
Set each person as USER instead of Admin account.
They will only get access to their folders.

Note, you need an admin account to install programs etc.

Don't use the hidden admin account except for emergencies. If it gets corrupted and you don't have another admin account you will be out of luck.
