Share file between PC and Pocket PC through Wifi connection

May 22, 2005 12:16AM PDT

Is it possible to establish a local area network to share files between a PC and Pocket Pc through a wifi connection?

I know that i can use bluetooth to share and access files on my pc but the speed is too slow.

I tried to use Terminal Services Client but my PC is running Windows XP home edition which doesnt support hosting Remote Desktop.

I want to establish a local area connection through wifi but dont know how since only bluetooth offers software to establish local area network between pc and pocket pc.

If anyone knows how or knows where to buy or download a wifi software for pocket pc, please help, thanks.

yea you can just use winamp to do that. Set up your wireless home network so that all your computers are talking to each other, and then you can use the free pocket pc version of winamp and load files off the network, or just use any free mp3 player for pocket pc, and use internet explorer on your ppc typing in \\YOUR COMPUTE RNAME\YOUR SHARED MUSIC FOLDER, ignore the vpn screen asking you for a password, click "ok" and up pops your music files.

I do this with a pocket pc 2003 OS grabbing music off of 3 computers in my house wirelessly networked, 2 running windows xp, and one running windows me. Works like a charm. I connect my pocket pc to my living room entertainment center and I have an unlimited source of music from any of the 3 computers that I can dial up on the fly. I can also listen outside, as my wifi output is powerful enough to reach the whole span of my yard.

hope this helps!
