Severe problem in DVD RW burn

by lemonrg / March 4, 2007 3:12 PM PST

Hi
I have a very annoying problem.
I have Wwin XPSP2 installation and using nero and InCD to format an RW Disc.

I cant seem to pass the first second cause I get a \n error message "Erro writing to disc E: polease confirm that the disc is compatible with the driveand is not scratched or damaged"....

I own an Optiarc 5170a, though I tried a diffrent Burner today and got the :same message.

I succeeded burning regular DVDs with the same S/W ELEMENTS SUCCESFULLY.

Used diffrent medias and tried with a nother brand new burner all fail...

Today I reinstalled XP, same happens again.

I think its an XP issue as I have tried diffrent burner and diffrent burning programs....

Pls advice :

while trying to "format" the RW disc. While InCD seems to be a good feature, many have seen that it causes untold problems with DVD burning. If you search any of the DVD forums, they will tell you to turn off InCD and remove it.
Now with that said, if you are trying to do this with CD's, Windows XP has a similar feature that seems to work quite well and does not interfere with DVD burning. Right click on the drive icon in "My Computer" and then pick the "Recording" tab and enable the "Enable CD Recording on this drive" Then you can drop and drag files to burn to the CD. Not quite the same as InCD but without the problems.

10XFOR YOUR ANSWER. Actually tried that and other programs beside InCD. All are giving mistakes. DVD which are already formatted work fine, only new ones cause the poroblem......very weard.

i suspect it may be a h/w driver comptibility problem , don't you suspect this direction....?

thanks
4 you help

Sure it's not the media?

In reply to: DVD RW PROBLEM

Not all blank DVDs are created equally. Some are very poor quality, while others are quite good. And even among the good brands, there's always a chance of a bad batch being produced.

While I agree that programs like InCD are more trouble than their worth, you might try using some different brand media. Verbatim tends to be made by around the second tier producer of blank DVD media (there's about 5-6 companies that make all blank DVDs), so you might go out and buy like a 5 pack of Verbatim discs and see if the problem persists. If it works, you know it's the media, if it doesn't work, something else is likely wrong.

RW DVD Burning problem - Strange......
by lemonrg / March 5, 2007 12:42 AM PST

I am pretty sure it's not the media as i have tried several kins with several programs. yesterday i have even changed the burner with a brand new one from LG and it did not work.

nOte, only new DVD RW pose a problem. writing on an already formattted or erased DVDRW is working fine.

this is why i suspect a H?W issue.....

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
