Setting windows passwords

Jul 30, 2004 7:00PM PDT

I am trying to set a password to prevent ANY access to my PC, other than that of the password holder, obviously! I am running windows ME, and at the moment have set a 'USER' password, but this is easily passed by clicking on cancel.

My Question: Is it possible to completly restrict access, and if so, how?
Any advice would be grand!
Thanks.

There are a few workarounds, but in short, Windows 95/98/ME don't offer security. Don't waste too much time there.

Here's the usual workarounds.

1. Set the BIOS password.
- Don't forget it.
- Know how to reset it.

2. Set the Screen Saver password.
- Don't forget it.
- Know how to remove it if you forget it.
- Know that I can delete it too.

Inevitability,

As previously mentioned, Windows ME isn't a secure operating system to start with. There are ways around most of the security steps if you know how to use them. But you might try the procedures at the link below. See if you like the result:

Hope this helps.
