So you have to comb over results like https://www.google.com/search?q=5+kilometer+wireless+link until you find something that fits your budget and skill level. You want over 4KM range when you design so that a rainy day doesn't knock it out. I'd design for 10KM.
Hello, I am new here and wondering if anyone has any knowledge of setting up a wifi link to a camera which will be set up on an eagles nest in a forest? I have a radio link to my house from my parents house to get broadband and would like to use some thing similar to send pics and video of the eagles nesting back to the house. We have a licence to film the nest from Scottish Natural Heritage so it's all legal.
We are having difficulty figuring out what kit we need to link it all together. I have a radio link dish and mast and we are going to use a trail camera (with wifi or bluetooth) for filming the nest. It's the bit inbetween we don't know. We were planning to use leisure batteries to power it all which we will have to swap out at times and maybe a PV panel to help charge a bit.
We don't get 3 or 4G here yet so we can't use the cameras that us sim cards.
The nest site is 4 km from the house in line of sight.
Has anyone tried something similar?
