HDMI is protected by HDCP and in most countries the makers are forbidden to strip HDCP and provide unprotected video. So this is why you can't find HDMI to COMPONENT convertors in the shops.
It's that simple. Many some black market product does this but we can't discuss that here as it's not only illegal in some countries but flies in the face of the policy of hacking etc.
So i have this really old 52 inch Sony projector tv. I also have a Yamaha receiver with a surround sound in my room. My problem here is, i want to interchange my cable and whenever i wanna hook up my laptop to the tv. The TV does not have HDMI ports. so im trying hdmi into the receiver, Then COMPONENT out to the tv's component in. I never get a picture on the tv. Are HDMI and Component not interchangable like that? Component to component works and RCA to RCA works too. i just cannot go between 2 different types. is that normal?
