Question

Setting up modem router

by fabonz / April 2, 2015 8:55 AM PDT

Have recently moved into a new flat and it turns out our modem router is around 3 years old but we have one that was sent to us that is only 1 year old and probably better which i am wanting to install. BUT in the installation manual it states that we will need a username and password supplied by our ISP, which we dont have. Is this a problem? Any way to get around this? Thanks in advance

The ISP should be willing to fix this for you in a matter of minutes.

if you are using the same isp and just transferring service, you should be able to get that info off the old modem/router in the settings. Also, if your isp did not send you that router, you may have to contact them anyway because they may need some info off of it before activating.

If the Internet connection you are having in your new house is a DSL connection then the user ID and password should be provided by your ISP. Contact your service provider and get the infomation to set up your gateway.
