When you get a cable box, with hdmi output, all you will need
to connect it to the hdtv is a hdmi cable. You won't need the
rf coaxial (screw on type) cable connected anymore. The hdmi will
take care of both hd video and audio digitally and at the highest quality. Only component or hdmi will give you hd. Monoprice.com
is highly rated here for their cables. I was able to get my 6'
hdmi cables from them for less than $5. shipped. Don't know
what you paid for yours but may want to consider them.
we just bought a hd lcd tv, and bought a pair of hdmi cables. i had 2 questions about setting it up with my cable box (cablevision), i need to call them to get the correct box as the current one, though it says hd on it doesn't have the hdmi ports on it. so when i get the newer one, do i just connect the hdmi port from the cable box to the tv, do i still need the cable wire going from the box to the tv? since right now we are not using the hdmi cables and directly connecting via the cable wire, if i watch an hd channel, is the tv able to pick it up at hd settings, or it needs the hdmi cable for that? also we bought WireLogic hdmi cables, not monster, does that matter, is it a good brand or should we return for monster instead?
