Question

setting up external sound equipment 51'' 3D tv

please can any one help Sad i have a 51'' 3D plasma samsung and have bought stereo seperates and want to run the sound from my tv through my stereo, the problem is on the back of my stereo it has jack plugs and have tried connecting via the jack plugs in the back of the tv but getting no sound comming through ? does this have to be done via hdmi cable ? would really appreciate any help on this matter

Many have optical outputs and we can get a sub 20 buck adapter to get it to stereo. There might be other options but without the model number I can't check.

HDMI would be used for other things so I'm going with no for that since we don't have a HT system but stereo.
