Setting up 2.1 Speakers to WME System

by The Funktipus / June 17, 2005 9:36 PM PDT

Here's the deal-
I'm trying to set up a set of old home theatre speakers to my Windows Media Edition pc. The speakers only go through the RF cords (I think that is what you call them, the red and white audio cords.) And even though I have the RF receptors in the back of my computer to plug them into, the sound still doesn't work. How, if there is a way, would I be able to set up these speakers to play sound coming from my computer?

The type of jack you're talking about is generally referred to as either RCA Preouts or Composite audio/video, the latter being the more proper.

That being said... The first thing that comes to mind for your problem, is have you installed the sound card drivers yet?

Well, I'm not exactly sure...
I looked it up in Windows Media Center Edition for Dummies, and everytime I go to my sound setup (SoundMAX), it doesn't have the RCA preouts for selection. All it has is the usual Desktop Speakers, Surround Sound, 5.1 Surroung, and 7.1 Surround.
Is that because I haven't installed it, and if it is how would I go about installing it.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
