Plasma or LCD?

Michael Cortez,

It might make more of a difference on a plasma than an LCD, particularly with static images. But running the higher contrast levels shouldn't damage the panel.

Could you clairfy which A650 you're referring to?

The LCD A650's

Would it somehow shorten the lifespan of the tv? And would the tv be effected or harmed in any way if I put the backlight setting to 10 and the brightness in the 90's?

A650s

Michael Cortez,

Running the panel brightness set at a consistent high level may age the CCFL lamps, but I don't imagine it would be a significant loss that would translate into a drastic measurement. So yes, it will age the unit a little quicker than lower settings, but will it ruin the panel? I don't believe so.

The television has a 60,000 half-brightness rating, so it would still take quite a while to see any negative effects of running the television at any level until you reached that measurement.

If it was a plasma, it would also be more apt to develop image retention or burn-in on static images. (That's why I asked).

Hope that helps!
