Setting Default OE format

How can I set the default format for all of my outgoing messages from OE6 as 12-point Bold Arial? Although I've marked these settings on the Compose window of the settings, I always have to manually choose Rich Text on the Format menu to put the text in Bold when preparing to type the message.

You seem to be using the correct procedure...

Try again by changing to something else and then reset to your preference. Be sure to hit the apply button. Have no idea if that does not work.

I've already tried this, and it always saves the correct font and size. But I haven't yet found out how to tweak it so that Bold/Rich Text is also set by default.
