Set up of new HD tv

by jennemmy / April 14, 2008 7:23 AM PDT

We just purchased a Samsung HD. We had direct tv installed 2 months ago. They want to extend my contract to upgrade us to the HD dish. We have had non-stop problems with the dvr as well as basic watching, so I don't want to do anything to extend the contract. I am ready to pay the $350 to cancel. My last option is finding a way to hook up the tv without using the tuner. Or purchasing a non-directtv tuner. We have tried over the air rabbit ears without success. Any suggestions? Our current set up is a Direct tv dvr on one tv, and a basic receiver on the HD set. Thanks!

Why don't you want to extend the contract if your service has been good? Why would you pay $350. to cancel? Just curious.

my service has been awful. the dvr fails constantly - recording is spotty, skips or plain just doesn't record the show. I hope I didn't imply otherwise.

unless you go buy a digital tuner for ur HDTV you can't get hd signals at all n even w a tuner you only get your local channels in hd... I suggest getting rid dish n go w cable ... I work for time warner in Ohio n even tho we aint perfect you can get someone to come fix ur stuff for free n within a couple days... Paying 350 might be worth it... Since you have dish you get a discount from twc n if you own your equip ( box n dish ) we will give you upto 100 credit for 2 of em (50 a peice) hope that helps

when you said "Non-stop." I thought that implied everything was good.
