is with a router. Connect the router to your modem, cable or DSL, then connect the PCs to the router, you'll need a NIC in each PC. Follow the instructions that came with the router. If you are running a firewall you'll need to configure it to allow sharing, directions are with the router or the firewall. XP has a Networking wizard that will lead you by the hand.
