Set Top box for TV/video sites

I like to catch the occasional missed episode of TV online (like ABC's full episode player). What I would really like to do is have a set top box that allows me to utilize these sites on my TV.

Is there such an animal (particularly for ABC who seems to have a proprietary plugin)?

If not is, there a nice way to do this with an old PC, especially one running Linux (which ABC will not do).

Basically, I want to easily (so kids could do it too) watch it on my TV but not have to spend a lot of money.
