Question

Set manual exposure/aperture Panasonic gh4 time lapse mode

May 10, 2015 10:00PM PDT

I have set my camera to shoot time lapse on my gh4 several times in manual mode. The only thing that seems never to work is my exposure, it allows me to change it but nothing happens. Any idea how to fix this?

Answer
Given cameras are a pile of software.

Always report bugs/omissions/thingsthatdon'twork to them. I can't tell if you checked for firmware updates as well.

I'm not sure if it's a bug or if there's a setting I've missed. The camera has the latest firmware update.

To me that's a bug. Maybe it's time to call them on it.

Some of the settings on my (not a GH4) seem to have no or little effect. However I find that pushing it to the max or min of the setting does have an effect.

-> There's a known issue with the 2% rule. In order to see or feel a change it has to be at least 2% for a human to perceive the change. Sorry but this is from my old human factors days. I'm sure this is on the web somewhere. So if the change is working but not enough to perceive we have to examine the image with some software.

Ive gone from one end to the other with not a single change. It allows me to change the aperture and the numbers change but nothing happens to the picture. Might give Panasonic a ring today and see what they say.

There was someone that write similar but they were looking at the little LCD display and not the resulting photo on the big screen.

Rang Panasonic this morning and they'll be giving me a ring back today. Might be a faulty camera or just a setting some where that i've missed. Aperture works fine in manual video mode its just manual photo mode.

Worked it out. There's a setting called constant preview and it was off. Turning it on fixed it
