"What is this?
I have just started to notice this on my computer....
When you re/start it, and the black screen right before the it's all the way on (see desk top) it has these words?
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4
they were never there before..What is it and what does it do..Did a little playing in msconfig. I found it in Autoexec.bat......
should I uncheck it or do I need this.."
1. What it is:
This sets what is called an ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE. You will not be able to measure any difference in boot time if you don't have it.
2. What it is used for:
By setting this variable, older DOS software can find the sound card and use it.
3. Do you need it?
I can't tell yet. Do you play any old DOS games? If so, then yes.
4. Would I keep it?
Sure. It's a non-issue item. No foul, nothing to fret about and I've really written more than a should for such an item. But I know it's tough to find such info at times so with that, I wish you the best of luck,
Bob
