Service Pack 2

by lakevue / September 8, 2006 4:06 AM PDT

Loaded SP2 and found that my entire system slowed down after install. IS this normal? Currently have
512K mem...should I upgrade to 1024K?
Also, have not installed SP1, but MS wbsite site said
both would be installed with SP2. Could this pose a problem?
I also stopped getting MS security auto updates even though I checked for auto update in control panel.
Have others had system slowdown with SP2?
Any ideas>

slow you down a tad. It includes SP1.
As far as not getting updates, they are only released on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

After installation of SP2, goto Windows Update site to download the software needed to get updates (4 files)

Next return to Windows Update to download & install the 55 updates released since SP2 was introduced in 2004

Afterwards run your anti-virus & sptware programs

Yes, you will pick up Spyware & even Trojans & Worms from MS Update!!

In fact you already picked up @ 30 tracking cookies just downloading SP2!!!

You can turn on auto-updates if you want.

Along with the monthly updates, MS will release updates in the event of a breakout.
