Serve live TV to laptop via LAN

Oct 17, 2005 12:45AM PDT

I have a desktop with a TV Tuner card (WinTV PVR-150). It came with Hauppauge WinTV, but it's very basic and not very good. Frequently I use my laptop in another room of the house (wireless internet), and would like to know if there is a way to stream live tv from the desktop or something along those lines so I can see the TV on my laptop. The TV card in my desktop is hooked up to Cable TV.

Thanks

www.videolan.org may be your solution. It allows you to stream content (tv tuner) over a network to a computer/laptop with the videolan client.

Would TVolution Software help?

Has anyone downloaded and used this TVolution software?
It purports to turn your computer into a television, with access to a great deal of content, all for a one-time charge of $29.95.
I do not find any information on this service on the CNET site.
It would be great if CNET were to review this service!
