General discussion

Seriously, with the spam?

Isn't there some kind of spam filter on these forums? can't you block registration by domain or something?

sad panda.

I actually did a little sleuthing and provided them with information that appeared to lead back to a particular spammer (all those "watch such and such sports event live online" posts). I don't know if they ever followed up with this individual or not or did their own research.

Making the signup process require a working non-free email account might help, but I'm sure there would be pushback.

It's destroying whatever community is left on these boards.

I know the offending posts eventually get removed and I appreciate the moderator's trying to control it the best they can, but the fact is that nothing says "deserted forum" like multiple spam posts gumming everything up at the top.

Hopefully when we go to the new forum platform sometime either today or tomorrow (I have my fingers crossed), we'll have some betters tools to counter those spammers. These sports spammers are the most persistent spammers I've seen in my 10 years here. While we've tried a few things already, these spammers are dynamic and consistently changing up their game plan and they haven't been very successful. Anyways, I'm going to do my best to counter these nuisances.

Thanks for the feedback guys!
