Serious TCP/IP Problem Pls Help!

Apr 25, 2007 6:41AM PDT

Hi the other day I was messing with my friends router configuration page trying to figure out how to enable him to host certain online games both for his computer and PS3...(simple port forwarding wasn't doing the trick)

As I was messing about i figured out that i needed to use the correct DMZ or something like that....I can't even remember exactly what settings i changed but i think i somehow changed the default gateway as well...now he cannot access the internet. in a state of fret i began to toy with his Network connections and confused myself even more. Im pretty sure i destroyed his network connections settings. I was wondering if anyone knows what i can do to fix this or if there is a way to just 'start over' network connections.

He has a Surfboard modem and a Linksys Wireless-G router, his computer/PS3 is connected straight to the router while his mother's laptop in the next room is connected wirelessly. After trying a bunch of different things i simply gave up and told my friend "you're screwed sorry i messed it up" and now his mom is really upset because she needs to pay bills online...please HELP!

Under WAN setup

I only have the box checked that says connect automatically as required.

All other boxes are unchecked. If this does not work,

The hit the reset button in the back of the router. It will then set it back to the factory defaults. Then start over.

WAN Setup?
Apr 25, 2007 7:11AM PDT

I cannot access the router configuration page..I tried resetting the router already and it didn't seem to do anything.

Even when i connect the modem straight to the computer it still will not access the internet...i believe i changed some vital information in the network connections...there are 3 connections there and im not sure which is which...one is name "Local Area Connection" "Local Area Connection 2" and "1394" or some number like that.

You have to
Apr 25, 2007 7:17AM PDT

plug the ethernet cable into one of the numbered ports for setup.

Since you already reset the router, you have to use the default username and password.

Depending on the model, it might be

username
password admin

username admin
password admin

username admin
password

If you reset the router

you don't need to look for this to correct, it was already corrected.

You should be able to connect to your router using the wireless capabilities now.
