Serious audio issues wz VLCMedia Player v. 0.8.1.(wx,Win.)

Oct 9, 2005 6:19AM PDT

Hello !! CNET Members and friends,

I have recently downloaded and installed VLCMplayer v. 0.8.1 (wx-Windows interface) which is really excellent.
However I have serious audio issues ,with mpeg. video files ( dvd movies) which are running without sound, while no

problem when I playback VCD's.
My AC97 sound card set up, is OK,with updated drivers. Same video & audio formats work fine with my Power DVD

Player and WMPlayer.
Simple MP3/CD's and audio-wma/CD's are not running as well.
I have already posted several messages with the VideoLan.org Forums discussion and support for VLCMPlayer

without having received a clear cut helping tip or advice.
All the users agree that it is a simple settings problem, but there is no qualified user or member to tackle the issue.
They have only suggested that I should upgrade to the new version 0.8.4.,but I doubt this will solve the problem

because some members of the forum they have done so without any success.
Presently VLC Preferences General Settings and Modules section configuration is left at "default" ,only I have selected

"use SPDIF when available" in order to be able to avoid system crash when I try to playback DVD movies but of

course the mpeg. video running without sound.
I went thru the VLC FAQ pages at the Web site but most of the replies given use examples related to the Linux

operating System, with very technical terms and acronyms.
I am at a loss as to what to do ! ! ! Just in case any fellow member is conversant wz subject application.???
Please come to my rescue......Any help will be appreciated.
