Question

Serif Photoplus 7

by nilocp / September 3, 2013 7:20 AM PDT

I dont really know why I installed this but I did.

The damn program has converted all my jpg files to Serif Photoplus pictures.

I am sure I did not authorise that.

How can I convert everything back to jpg? There are hundreds of files.

And Serif now seems to be the default for all pictures.

HELP!!

Colin

Clarification Request
Sounds more like Associations to me.

When you association files with an application it's proper for this to happen.

Here's the old JPG association from Doug Knox. Should be fine for XP, Vista and 7.

What program do you want to open them when you double click? O get the impression it isn't Serif Photoplus.

No definitely not Photoplus! Microsoft photo editor, Windows picture and fax viewer etc.

What I dont want is all my albums being Serif Photoplus files. I want them to be jpg, so I can do with them what I want.

Thanks

Two things you can do:
1. Run the program you want to use and use it's File>Open command to open those files.
2. Change the file association back to what you want. Some installs change it without asking, other installs ask and maybe you inadvertenty answered yes.

Details on how to do it vary by OS, so I can't tell you. For Windows 7 see http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/default-program-windows-7.htm.. For another version of Windows, if you can't find it in the built-in Help and Support, maybe you can google it yourself?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
