Sure, I do it all the time. Send a text message to his email address. That will give him the proper email address to reply in a text to you. For instance, those using verizon can receive text msgs at phonenumber with a dot and vtext.com added. For sending images they can receive at the phone number with a dot and vzwpix.com

My dad needs to receive a text and respond from his 'mobile device'. He doesn't have a 'mobile device', other than a basic flip phone for calling only, from what he tells me.
Is there a way to receive and send text from his pc?
I see many ways to do this, but all that I've seen so far require a cell phone to either sync or manage an app.
