General discussion

sending stereo audio into my hp 1170n

Jun 3, 2005 6:58AM PDT

So I'm trying to send sound from my 4 track mixer into "audio 2" left and right input on the front of my cpu. I can't find is this the same as "line in 1 or 2" that i can see under volume controls. When I click properties under volume controls, I can't select "Line in 1 or 2" to adjust the recording properties. I'm trying to play sounds from my external rca source through my pc speakers, and possibly record using cakewalk. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

the R/L RCA Female inputs your referring too will be one of two Line In ports
and the blue (usually blue, sometimes other colored) single headphone jack on the rear of the case will be the other Line In

in other words
try it

The audio inputs are via 3.5mm mini plug, green for line out, blue for line in.
If you plan to do a lot of recording think about getting a Pro soundcard like the M-Audio Delta44. It has 4 input and 4 outputs balanced, supports sample rates up to 96k.
I just built a PC for a client with this card. John
