Sending HTML Email

Jan 28, 2006 5:05AM PST

I get advertising emails that look and act like web pages. How do I make those? I would like to send my clients those interactive web mails but I don't know how. I designed my own website using a webhost and that part was pretty easy, but I don't know how to make those email advertisings.

Can anyone help me?

Do I need a special program?

Thanks,

I usually use
Jan 28, 2006 6:32AM PST

I usually use MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD. What I do is highlight what I want from the website, copy, then paste it to an email using Mozilla Thunderbird. I then send it to all my subscribers using the BBC function. That way no ones email address gets out.

Hope this helps.

Outlook Express works also...
Jan 28, 2006 10:33AM PST

Simple go to write a new message. The when that window is open click on VIEW>SOURCE EDIT. Then look at the bottom of the email, it now has three little tabs: EDIT, SOURCE & PREVIEW. Go to source and put in the code of the HTML, then go to preview to see what it looks like. A little glitch: When you preview it, there is all this space above the code, that WON'T be when you send it out- simply send a copy to yourself and you will see it. Also, when copying the HTML into the SOURCE, make sure you use absolute links for the graphics etc. (http://www.domain.com/images/test.jpg) and not (images/test.jpg), because otherwise the graphics won't display. If you have any questions, let me knnow.

Outlook versus Outlook Express
Feb 8, 2006 4:05AM PST

From the first few people who replied, I have since learned something about Outlook versus Outlook Express. Outlook, even though in my opinion is really a great business application to keep calendar, contacts and everything else, it does not support the ability to edit and review html email. Outlook express, the junior cousin, does in fact have the capability.

Use outlook express to edit and create those emails and send them after importing your contacts from outlook. Pain in the you know what to get set up, but after a couple evenings, I've been able to quickly write and send ''active email'' as I call it. I use other programs like publisher to create a web page then when I use the review button, it opens my web browser from where I then 'select all' and copy it into the outlook express create mail.

I hope this helps you. I had to figure some of this out on my own and now I have a pattern that is easily replicated that has made my life much easier.

Good Luck,

Derek
