Sending FAX over DSL

Jun 6, 2004 12:17AM PDT

When I was on dial-up, I could send a FAX thru my modem.

I reformatted my harddrive, reinstalled Win XP home, and did not reinstall old modem software.

I am now on SBC/DSL.

My question... can I send a FAX using DSL, and if so, what kind of software should I use?

Or should I connect my old dial-up modem and install software for it?

Thanks

Ben

DSL can't call the other fax machine so that stops this idea cold.

You'll have to install/use a faxmodem, OR look into a fax service that (surprise) will use their faxmodems to deliver it.

Frankly, I use fax so rarely that when I need it, I go to a service I use. It's less work for me. And if I count time I would spend installing the faxmodem/software, I win on the time issue too.

Email has eroded the need for fax.

Thanks Bob,

Appreciate the info.

I sent a message to my (intended) FAX recepient asking if E mail would work for them, will have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Thanks again.
