Selling Prints

Jun 25, 2005 1:10PM PDT

Did a search and couldnt find anything helpful.
I have a number of photos which have been suggested I sell prints of.

Anyone lead me in the right direction to where to get started? Anyone else had experience selling prints of your photos? (Not iStock but like actually selling "artistic" photos"

A local college and there are courses about this subject. As such it would be impossible to condense all there is to know into this small space. BUT a fine book that covers one aspect of selling and more is "Living the Artist's Life by Paul Dorrell". That get's you the basic understanding of what's yours, some inkling of what you may want signed by your subjects and more.

After that, you can look on the web even more for how others sell prints.

Thanks for the input.
I'll check into ''Living the Artist's Life''.

I guess I should be a little more specific. There are already a few places I can ''gallery'' my work as pieces for sale. I'm more interested in presentation.

Specificly. When you sell a print of your work. Its a whole lot differnt than placing a developed negative in a frame and hanging it on a wall. At least to me it seems different.

Does anyone know. Is it different working with digital negatives?

Where can I get smaller ''poster-type'' prints made. Im thinking like 8x10 or 12x16. Could someone point me in the right direction to get these sort of photos printed? I doNt want "glossy photo paper" results.

Last question. From an ethical standpoint, do I have any responsibility to notify potential buyers that anything I may sell, that I may reproduce and sell more prints of that photo at a later time?

Thanks in advance for the advice. IF you dont want to give advice, your opinions are also welcome.
