Get a can of compressed air and a small brush.
Give the innards a good cleaning.
Get those fans and heatsinks nice and clean.
Don't forget the psu, a few shots of air from both directions.
Replace the bios battery.
Leave the side panel off and power it up.
Watch the fans, any fan that's slow to start needs to be replaced.
Leave the side panel off and test.
I am having multiple problems with my computer and all are happening regardless of what I do on the computer, whether surfing the web, writing a document or playing solitaire.
1. It freezes up randomly. Each day, when I first turn it on, it will always freeze within 15-20 minutes and I have to do a hard restart (by holding the power button). After it starts up again, it works for varying amounts of time before freezing (sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes 4 hours).
2. When it freezes up, sometimes I will get the BSoD, sometimes I won't. It's not tied to what I'm doing when it freezes. When I do get the BSoD, I get one of the two pictured below.
3. It will restart itself for no reason. Regardless of what I'm doing, the screen will suddenly turn black and then the system restarts. This even happens when the computer is on, but no one is using it. You can use it and it's fine and then you come back an hour later and it has restarted.
4. After it is restarted after freezing, I will sometimes get the window that tells me Windows encountered a problem and the option to send information to Windows. Nothing ever comes out of it. The problem logs I get are listed below.
5. At least every other day, when it's starting up, I will get a blip on the screen that says "Default BIOS settings have been loaded due to BIOS update or checksum issue" that quickly disappears. However, when I log in, the date/time is set back to 2002 or 2007.
Are these problems all connected? What can I do to fix some or all of them?
