Selecting the right antivirus suit

I am planning to purchase bitdefender total security suit for my laptop is: windows 10 but I'm confused if I should buy 2017 or 2018 because what my friends told me is that the 2017 would automatically get updated to 2018 but I think that's not true . Please help

Use windows defender and the windows firewall.

Bring your security up a notch with ublock origin.

Why do you want a security suite?

Torrents currently are the best source for the latest trojans and more. No known antivirus suite would or should tell you they will protect your PC.

Now you know.

Well when you purchase Virus software you purchase a

license. Typically the license goes for a year and if upgrades come out the only time you would have to pay again is when your license is due. Now sometimes they may not install automatically and you will have to manually install and most of the time the key will be read for your registry to activate the upgraded version. So purchasing 2018 will save you from installing twice.
