Selecting a dual purpose Laptop

Feb 2, 2005 6:12AM PST

Hi all
For my purposes, a dual purpose laptop is one that offers reasonable performance for normal computing needs, and can double as an "entertainment center".

We have a place we travel to frequently where we'd like to be able to do normal computing, plus play the occassional DVD movie. So I'd like to find a laptop that will output video to a TV, and also output audio to the AUX input on a stereo?

Our budget dictates a used machine, and two are available on local lists currently. One is a Dell Inspiron 5150 ($800), the other a Toshiba P25($1000). I understand that these are not exactly comparable models, but both would meet our basic computing needs. I beleive both would also meet the "video out" requirement, anybody know if they can output a sound signal? If not, what kind of machine or sound board do I have to look for?

Tnx

Any comments on these models in general also appreciated.
