Seeking advice for media storage device

Oct 7, 2006 9:57AM PDT

Hi, I want to store all my music on an external hard drive. I have roughly 350 cds. What size hard drive should I be looking for? Also, is there anything else I should look for specifically? My computer is a Dell, Windows XP Edition.

Thanks

Since it's "storage" only RAID 5 may do. Here's why.

Without at least RAID 5 any drive failure can cause complete file loss. Even then there is an issue that some pest, virus or mistake can wipe out the collection. On top of data protection such as RAID 5 you'll need a backup plan.

Hope this helps.
