Security software - any suggestions?

by chanburg / March 5, 2007 7:25 AM PST

Hello,

I have been looking around for awhile at all the security software that is out on the market. I have been trying to compile a suite of security applications that will give me the best protection. Currently I have the following:

Kaspersky Anti-Viris 6.0
Comodo Personal Firewall Pro
Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition
Spybot Search & Destroy

Does anyone have any recommendations for additional software? I don't mind paying for the software if that's the case. Also, I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a registry cleaner and/or any other useful utility software for my computer? I am by no means a computer expert, but I am not a novice either so ease of use is important but not a critical factor.

Thank you

I'll share what I'm using. Is it best? (I think not.)

But it's doing the work for me.

Free AVG AntiVirus
Free AVG AntiSpyware
Zone Alarm (firewall)
POPFILE (antispam)
Firefox (browser replacement)
GAIM (IM replacement)

Armed with this, nothing happens to me. Boring since the only time I get to play IT is when others let their guard down.

Any suggestions for a registry cleaner?
by chanburg / March 8, 2007 6:21 AM PST

What about a registry cleaner? Are there any free ones out there that are fairly user friendly? I've never used one before and I'm not really sure what exactly a registry cleaner does but from what I can tell its a good idea to have one on my computer.

Thanks

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
