Security Protection virus, cant start safe mode

by naf5058 / September 3, 2011 11:56 AM PDT

My computer is infected with Security Protection, and i cant run any programs. I found a guide on how to remove it, using spyware doctor, however it requires me to enter safe mode with networking. When i attempt to enter advanced start up options using the f8 key the computer beeps repeatedly and will not enter the advanced start up menu. Is there another way to enter this menu or remove this program without safe mode?

Thanks for the help

Something else to consider..

As noted (Step #4) in Remove Security Protection (Uninstall Guide), Security Protection comes bundled with the TDSS rootkit infection.

IF this happens to be your case, I would suggest also running Kaspersky's TDSSKiller, in addition to what Grif suggests. (You'll find the link in the prior post) Followed to the letter, the Rkill tool should kill the offending process, and allow you to run your programs.

Lastly. Please take care when going to sites which guarantee its removal, unless you're sure of their safety. Especially those, which offer software for a fee.

Best of luck..

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
