Security Private Disk

Sep 16, 2014 11:23PM PDT

I get a CNET Cheapskate on the Gilisoft Private Disk offer.
Normally I am rather cautious about "free" offer but this time I was tempted to see what it turn out to be, and downloaded and installed it; after creating a Private Disk on an USB key (with registration and sending runtime key to Gilisoft) I found out that I can neither mount the disk nor to un-mount it.
The worst is still to come, there is no place to uninstall the ware (with windows 7 add or remove program or with Revo Uninstaller Pro), and I could not even delete the file created on my key! I had to delete all the folder related to it under Program (x86) and format my USB key.
I wonder whether the free offer is a trick to get my email address or worse.
Anyone has an opinion on the topic, please?
All inputs are welcome.
Thanks.

Thanks, but that was the first thought that came to me, but somehow the comment area in that thread is inaccessible to me.

Hmmm...

I'm trying to figure out why you aren't able to see the comments.

What do you see when you go to the comments section here:
http://www.cnet.com/news/get-gilisoft-private-disk-win-for-free/#comments

Is it just blank? Do you see a grey bar that reads "Show Comments"? If yes, can you click on that button to see if it expands to display all the comments?

If you're not able to see anything, can you tell me what device and browser you are using?

Thanks for your help!

Had to click on the "Show Comments" button to read them.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Bob.

That is the current expected behavior in our articles. We collapse the comments because when you land on a CNET article, you can continuously scroll down and another CNET article will follow the first one.

Thanks again!

Private Disk

Thanks Lee,

Indeed there is a Show Comments button and I manage to see the comments.
There are lot of people with bad experience with the Private Disk.
Fortunately, the comments let understand that there is no risk of embezzlement with the offer; that's all the matter to me.

Yeah doesn't seem people are happy with that freebie...

I'm sorry to hear about the bad experience on the freebie, I'm sure Rick Broida the author is reading the feedback from others.

Thanks for following back up.

Have a great week!
