Security Issues

Feb 23, 2007 8:18PM PST

My desktop PC runs Windows XP. At the moment it refuses to load windows and must be returned to the manufacturer for repair. Before I send it I want to grab my personal files from the HDD (backups not up to date) as the manufacturer will probably format the drive. I've put the HDD in a caddy and connected ti to my lap top which is running Vista. And here is the problem - Vista says I have no permissions to acces my own files on the HDD in the caddy! I can't seem to find a way around this. Help please.

I think I've found a solution now. I have to take ownership of my own files on the extra HDD and then give myself permission to read/edit them. Really helpful all this security stuff on Vista!!!
