General security for Mac...any suggested anti virus or other

There are no viruses in the wild that affect the Mac

Any anti-virus program that you get will only separate you from your money since the threat to the Mac from viruses is so low. While there are "proof-of-concept" viruses, there are no reported virus attacks on the Mac.

If you want to sanitize your Mac and not pass on Windows viruses to your friends, then clamAVX is a free program that will locate and isolate a Windows virus.
