a look thru some reviews does not even have "webroot" mentioned, let alone recommended ...so, that might be the answer ...what has me more baffled is how this new computer seems to run a lot slower then my older gateway that I retired, for this HP
with AMD A-8 - 6410 .... geek squad said the webroot could slow some browsing down, but it seems a lot slower then it should be ?!? simply a poor choice on my part and I have to live with it ? but too, I see a lot of "stuff" (apps) that I will never use ...games, etc.
x box, candy crush, snapfish .... can I uninstall these items w / o concern over problems doing the basic stuff I do...and ... will that possibly speed stuff up ?

thanx

The first thing you want to do is create factory restore media and tuck it away.
That's your life line back if things go bad wrong.
So look in your manual and see how to create it and how to do a factory restore.

Webroot.....it's a cloud based system so if you have a slow internet connection it will effect browsing.

Any extra layers and it slows.

The more security you install the slower it should be. As to the extra items, those are not ones I think would slow it down.

My son played video games on a prior version A8 (slower) so it's usually not the CPU here. It may be a slow HDD (I'm installing SSDs everywhere it seems.)

But LET ME SHARE that I am now on W8 or W10 laptops and for security I use myself as the major security threshold. For protection beyond that, I have Defender since it improved so much and then for Web Security I use Web Of Trust (see google) for Chrome and Firefox browsers.

I've yet to go back to IE or Edge because Microsoft lost my trust there many times. So I don't.
